2012 I was drinking and doing drugs on the daily. Addicted to both as well as a crazy lifestyle. Smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day. Up until all hours of the night. Riding my motorcycle all over, like a mad man with my wife on the back. Not a care for myself, my wife, my family, friends or my life. I was out of control! (Picture on the left)
Fast forward to today. My wife and I are better than ever. I try to improve myself daily. Through nutrition, fitness, self improvement, reading, traveling, and spreading love, I have came from the depths of hell to where I am today. The happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been. Mentally, physically and spiritually. I also quit chewing in February, the longest I have went without tobacco since I was 14.
I share this today not for a good job, a way to go, or good for you. I share this today to show you that you can do it too. Whatever your situation, it can get better. It’s simple, it’s just not easy.
So as an owner of a small nutrition and fitness company, please understand that I too have had to fight to get my health back. I have had to go through growing pains. I have had to learn how to do it and get help from others.

After retiring from 23 years of service in the military, I started eating worse. Out to eat every day for lunch. All the shit you could think of. McDonald’s Wendy’s, Burger King, 6 pack or more of Pepsi a day. A Pepsi and a Brown sugar Pop tart for breakfast. I was also on cholesterol meds at this time because of my unhealthy eating habits. That went on for about 6 years. I got up to 270. Wearing a size 40 pant which were getting tight. I was at the heaviest I have ever been and it was showing. After looking at some photos, in complete disgust, I decided it was time for a change. I made small changes at first. Cut out the soda all together. Ate eggs for breakfast, bought a TRX so I could work out from home. I researched better eating habits and healthier meal choices . I was lucky I had a wife that was on board with the change in eating, it helps. Able to get off cholesterol meds, I got down to 193lbs, 34 in pant but thought that I looked to thin so I bulked back up to my comfort weight of 205-208. After moving to Colorado about 1.5 years ago I had to have a gym to motivate me to stay in shape. So I text my friend Dustin and we talked about different types of gyms. CrossFit came up, I had never done it, so I gave it a shot. The first day kicked my ass but I continue to go 3-5 a week. Why? Because I don’t want to go back to the old fat lazy Rob again. Do I still drink, yep just not as much. Do I stray from my diet of course. Do I enjoy being in better shape than I was when I was 20 fuck yes I do? . I will end in saying that my wife, and Dustin and Tonya Johnson motivate me every day to stay on track. They have helped me in this journey more than they know. Living a healthier lifestyle is better than the alternative. Competing is not my gig, I just don’t want to be a 48 year old man that has to pop pills every day and cant walk a block without being winded.
We thank you for your service Rob. Glad we have helped along the way. Keep up with good work!

Let me tell you a story about me …
The girl on the left lived a life that was out of control … Out of control with her nutrition, out of control with her fitness (in fact it was non-existent), and out of control with living a healthy lifestyle. consuming alcohol was her norm and I’m not talking a few drinks here and there. She ate whatever she wanted and lacked portion control. Her life was out of control and her body showed it.
This girl also struggled with a medical condition known as endometriosis. She endured more surgeries than she could count on one hand and went through countless hormonal therapies. Her hormones we’re a wreck and she would often spend most days curled up on the couch crying because she was in so much pain. At the age of 26 she ended up with a partial hysterectomy due to the endometriosis. This put her body into early menopause, wreaked havoc on her hormones, and took away her confidence.
The girl on the right has worked her butt off on learning nutrition and has made fitness a staple in her life. She is strong and confident and enjoys living a #healthylifestyle. This girl is me today.
Yes, I still struggle with endometriosis, and yes, I continue to deal with hormonal imbalance, but I am also the healthiest I have ever been. I feel confident in my skin … something that took me years to gain back.
I share this with you to show that no matter what your situation, you can make a change to get your body back … get your health back. Yes, I had some medical issues to deal with, but I never gave up. For years I struggled with losing my lower belly but over time and consistency in #nutrition and #fitness I have made significant improvements that I am proud of. It wasn’t easy but it was achievable. I just had to do the work everyday until it became a habit. Now, this is my lifestyle and I couldn’t be more proud.
At Sunrise Nutrition & Fitness we are here for you to help you every step of the way to reach your nutrition and fitness goals. You don’t have to go at it alone … Let us help you through the process of getting your health back. We know it is hard work and we would be happy to make it easier for you.
